Tree health project scheduled near trail Oct. - Dec.
State Parks is conducting a forest health treatment in the area of the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail near Malden to remove burned, diseased, dead, and hazardous trees affected by the 2020 Babb Road Fire from Oct. - Dec.
The purpose of this treatment is to restore forest health, reduce bark beetle infestation, and reduce hazards to users. Please be aware that forestry crews are using the trail for this treatment, which means vehicles, loud forestry equipment, and forest debris will be present. Forestry crews will be using chainsaws and wood chippers.
Crews will be onsite during weekdays and regular work hours. No closures will take place, but please use caution when approaching crews and wait for them to give signal for safe passage.
