State Parks Commission cancels upcoming meeting

OLYMPIA – March 6, 2020 – Out of an abundance of caution, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission has canceled its upcoming regular meeting in Chelan.

With the increase in COVID-19 cases in Washington state and considering current state guidance, Parks decided to cancel the two-day meeting. Members of the public, staff and stakeholders from across the state were expected to attend.

The work session and meeting were scheduled for Wednesday, March 11 and Thursday, March 12, at Campbell’s Resort in Chelan. 

Action items and related information will be moved to future commission meetings.

BACKGROUND
The commission has six regular meetings a year in pre-determined locations around the state. Time for public comment is provided at all regular meetings. Agendas, including information about opportunities for public comment, are available at on State Parks’ website.

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is made up of seven citizen volunteers appointed by the governor to staggered six-year terms. The commission is charged with providing policy direction for the agency.
