You can submit your state park event via email to get it placed on the calendar. The Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to Washington state parks and state-managed recreation lands. Deception Pass State Park

  1. Guided hikes

    Park staff will lead a family-friendly, hour-long, .9-mile hike along the North Beach Trail, during which hikers will learn about the Deception Pass forests. This one-way hike leaves from the West Beach Amphitheater and ends at the North Beach parking lot. Visitors may leave a car to shuttle or hike round trip. People of all ages are welcome.   1. Hand Tool Heaven: Joinery with Saws & Planes

    In this class, you will learn a boatload of tips, tricks and core techniques that will convince you that hand tools, once properly setup, sharpened and handled, are not difficult to master or tedious to use and are anything but obsolete. Contrary to the “norm," you will discover the pleasure of working wood with tools that don’t make noise, don’t make dust, and therefore don’t require protection from them.

  2. Timber Framing: Building a Structure

    You’ll be part of a team joining a frame for a moderately sized structure, yet is complex enough for you to fully understand the historic design and building processes. We're looking for a partner in the Port Townsend area who would want to sponsor a timber frame that we can build as a team. If you are interested in sponsoring a timber frame to be built in this course, please let us know. The design may be fixed by the time the class starts, but we will walk you through the design and materials selection process.
