You can submit your state park event via email to get it placed on the calendar. The Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to Washington state parks and state-managed recreation lands.   1. 10th Annual Quilts on the Beach Show

    This spectacular free outdoor display by Cama Beach Quilters is a burst of brilliant colors that draws visitors from throughout Puget Sound.     The South End String Band will provide music for the Cama Beach Quilts on the Beach 10 event. Songs and acoustic music played on stringed instruments during the event in the beach area. The music for the Quilts on the Beach 10 event will encourage folks to linger and look at the colorful quilts on display, which provides a atmosphere that will remind visitors of the earlier days where life went by at a less hurried pace.

    Park staff present a 30-minute interpretive program about the Deception Pass and Canoe Pass bridges. Beyond a discussion of the bridges’ architecture and history, visitors will discover the cultural significance of these iconic spans and their connection to the park’s natural resources.   2. Guided hikes

    Park staff will lead a family-friendly, hour-long, .9-mile hike along the North Beach Trail, during which hikers will learn about the Deception Pass forests. This one-way hike leaves from the West Beach Amphitheater and ends at the North Beach parking lot. Visitors may leave a car to shuttle or hike round trip. People of all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

  1. Timber Framing: Building a Structure

    You’ll be part of a team joining a frame for a moderately sized structure, yet is complex enough for you to fully understand the historic design and building processes. We're looking for a partner in the Port Townsend area who would want to sponsor a timber frame that we can build as a team. If you are interested in sponsoring a timber frame to be built in this course, please let us know. The design may be fixed by the time the class starts, but we will walk you through the design and materials selection process.

    Come visit Larrabee State Park and learn about the bats that call Washington their home!
    Bats Northwest, a nonprofit organization, is presenting this informational program that will teach you all about the bats in our area, along with some interesting facts about bats around the world. This is a program you won't want to miss, especially because you will have the opportunity to see a live bat up close while learning about it!
    The program will take place at Larrabee's south day-use area's amphitheater. There is limited seating available at picnic tables, so bring a blanket or folding chairs to sit on!

    This family-friendly evening program is geared toward children of all ages. Park staff will provide educational lessons on a variety of topics, including the natural environment and local wildlife, nocturnal animals, sensory exploration, geology and hiker preparedness. Each program will include an interactive craft or activity and lasts approximately one hour. Meet at the amphitheater beside the CCC kitchen shelter/across from swings.     Antoinette Botsford has traveled throughout the world collecting and telling stories. For the last several years her focus has been the true stories of families living on Orcas Island.
