You can submit your state park event via email to get it placed on the calendar. The Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to Washington state parks and state-managed recreation lands.     Rainshadow Running hosts this one-day race throughout the park with 25K and 50K loops that cover a mix of pavement, single track trails and dirt roads. Beyond a discussion of the bridges’ architecture and history, visitors will discover the cultural significance of these iconic spans and their connection to the park’s natural resources.   2. Guided hikes

    Park staff will lead a family-friendly, hour-long, .9-mile hike along the North Beach Trail, during which hikers will learn about the Deception Pass forests. This one-way hike leaves from the West Beach Amphitheater and ends at the North Beach parking lot. Visitors may leave a car to shuttle or hike round trip. People of all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

  3. Discovery Center hands-on activities

  1. Timber Framing: Building a Structure

    You’ll be part of a team joining a frame for a moderately sized structure, yet is complex enough for you to fully understand the historic design and building processes. We're looking for a partner in the Port Townsend area who would want to sponsor a timber frame that we can build as a team. If you are interested in sponsoring a timber frame to be built in this course, please let us know. The design may be fixed by the time the class starts, but we will walk you through the design and materials selection process.

  2. Port Townsend Acoustic Blues Workshop

    The Port Townsend Acoustic Blues workshop is held at Fort Worden State Park, one of the Pacific Northwest’s most stunning and inspiring landscapes. Participants can stay in dorms and eat in the Commons (a gathering place at the center of campus where local, sustainable foods are prepared by artisan chefs). The teaching artist-faculty also stay in housing on the Fort Worden campus, lending that family gathering feeling that makes this week more than just a workshop.

    Junior rangers and potential junior rangers are encouraged to take this animal habitat training! Youth will learn about wildlife watching etiquette, wildlife found at Joemma Beach State Park and how to search and identify animal habitats. Upon completion of the program, participants will earn their Junior Ranger badge. While all participants are encouraged to attend, the program is geared towards youth ages 6 to 12. We will meet in the day-use area by the boat launch.
